Mme Sooley’s class set up our trap this morning on the Rothesay common. We just need to add the collection bottles on Monday, and then see what’s inside!
Then, all 4 of Mme Sooley’s Science classes made some predictions. They were asked, ‘What kind of insects do you think we will find in our trap?’ The most popular guesses were:
- Flies
- Butterflies
- Mosquitos
- Grasshoppers
- Moths
- Hornets
- Wasps
Our Malaise trap arrived today, and tomorrow the students will be here and ready to start learning! We’ll start seeing what they know about living things, then arthropods, before we start catching them 🙂
Notre piège Malaise est arrivé ce matin, et demain les élèves arriveront, prêts à apprendre! Nous allons faire une mise en commun de nos connaissances sur les êtres vivants et les arthropodes, avant de commencer à les attraper 🙂
Rothesay Park Public School – Week 1!

Teamwork! Rothesay Park School setting up their Malaise trap!

7Marr set up our Malaise Trap this morning. We struggled a little with the guy ropes, but got the trap set! Jack used a hammer. He was pumped! We are anxious to see what insects we collect and are looking forward to being a part of this project. Today’s temperature is 19 degrees, but it feels like 25. The skies are overcast and there was a lot of rain last night. #hammer #buglife
