Today is our first day! The snow is finally starting to melt! We have our trap set up, and we are all ready to go!
Today it is sunny and about 3 degrees, but it’s feeling like -1 degrees.
Our class is excited to see if we bring in any insects this week.
Pictures coming soon 🙂
47 enthusiastic grade four students from Valley Elementary searched the school property to find a feasible location for their Malaise trap. However, with snow on the ground and a forecast for possible flurries and temperatures below freezing on Sunday, it may be a challenge to find the ideal spot!
We are looking forward to deploying our trap even though we are still surrounded by snow. Not sure how many insects are around yet but we are excited to participate!
Good morning,
We are glad to be trying this project and are excited about receiving our Malaise trap!!
We are a little worried about the amount of snow that we still have…1-2 meters (yikes). Do any other schools still have snow on the ground?
Hello Everyone!
We are looking forward to getting started! We still have a great deal of snow here, so we are still waiting for that perfect spot for our Malaise Trap! Hoping to post a picture in the next couple of days after we do some shoveling 🙂

Hello Everyone!
We are very excited to take part in the Malaise Trap Program. We have a great deal of snow here on Prince Edward Island with approximately 20-25 cm more coming on Sunday! We have an idea where our perfect location is but we are waiting for some of the snow to melt before we post a picture!
Talk to you soon,
Miscouche Consolidated
