So far, we have trapped about 40 bugs, but they are pretty small. The weather has been cold, windy and rainy, so our bug catch is down. We are hoping for more bugs and better weather. Finding a new species around here would be awesome!

ERMES Malaise Trap Results after week 1
We have had our share of bad weather; however, we have managed to catch a few insects! YAY! We have even managed to trap a few spiders. Guess they were curious! Our class is very excited about the program extension. Can’t wait to see what we will catch next week!
A Quick Hello From ERMES Grade 5 Students
Hi, Everyone! We are happily checking our Malaise Trap, and we are FINALLY beginning to catch some insects. Our weather hasn’t been very cooperative, and it blew our trap flat to the ground the first day! Since then, we have relocated to a much more calm spot! Looking forward to seeing our results at the end of the first week, and we’re hoping that the trapping time is extended so we can see lots of insects in our collection bottles! 🙂
Hello From ERMES (Evelyn Richardson Memorial Elementary School)
We are very excited to be participating in the School Malaise Trap Program for 2015! We have a total of 51 Science students from grades 4 to 6 and we will all be observing our trap. It was a pretty nice day to set the trap; however, we had LOTS of rain and wind overnight, so our trap needs to be fixed up because the weather has tampered with it a bit 🙂 Looking forward to see how many insects we can catch, and more importantly, WHICH kinds of insects live in our coastal community! 🙂
